Fair question, because an opening offer usually shows up as a bigger number a few bills later. In Selma, $69 for 1 Gig is the price, and so are $79 for 2 Gig and $99 for 5 Gig. All three are locked for 2+ years. That plus sign marks a floor, not a finish line.
What holds your price is the cost behind it. For each home we connect, the network operator bills us a wholesale fee. Your rate starts from that fee. Selma, Valley Grande, Marion, Demopolis, Uniontown, Orrville, Linden, Alberta and Gallion are live now, with more communities served nearby. The network keeps growing across west Alabama through 2027.
The price in the ad is usually not the price you keep.
Most internet plans advertise a monthly rate below their regular price, and the terms say when it runs out. After that, you pay the regular price.
The speed in the ad is usually the download speed. Upload, the speed for everything you send, is a separate number and often a much smaller one.

About the fiber network in Selma.
The fiber under Selma is an open-access network. One company builds and maintains the glass, and independent providers compete to sell the internet service that runs over it.
The network is mStreet Alabama, a $230 million privately financed build running more than 300 miles across west-central Alabama. Its headquarters is on Church Street downtown and its data center is at Selma University, which makes Selma the operational center of the project as well as its biggest market. Ground broke here in March 2024 and the first homes came online later that year. The build is scoped to pass at least 85 percent of premises in the city.
mStreet Alabama builds and runs the network. It does not sell internet service directly.
What the network actually looks like in Selma.
Selma is the largest piece of this build by a long way. The ready-for-service list here runs to more than 10,700 addresses across about 580 named streets, and it covers both of the city’s ZIP codes, 36701 and 36703. Roughly three in five serviceable addresses on the entire network sit inside Selma.
Because the city is laid out on a grid, the fiber follows streets rather than routes. Church Street, Alabama Avenue, Water Avenue, Lauderdale Street, Union Street, Philpot Avenue, Saint Phillips Street and Selma Avenue are all on the list, and so are the longer runs out of town: Old Montgomery Highway, Old Orrville Road and Minter Avenue.
That density is why checking the address matters more here than anywhere else on the network. Selma has more named streets than any three of the other towns combined, and a build this size gets lit in sections. A street two blocks from a connected one can still be waiting its turn. The checker answers for your address, not for your side of town.
One thing that trips people up: Valley Grande shares both of Selma’s ZIP codes. A 36701 or 36703 address is not automatically inside the city limits. The address check sorts that out on its own, and either way the answer is the same network.

Is my Selma address ready?
Selma is the largest build on the network and it gets lit in sections, so the honest answer depends on your street. Do you cover both Selma ZIP codes?
Yes. 36701 and 36703 both carry ready-for-service addresses, and so do the roads running out of the city like Old Montgomery Highway and Old Orrville Road. Worth knowing: Valley Grande uses the same two ZIP codes, so the ZIP by itself does not tell you which city an address is in. The checker does.
Do you serve the rest of Dallas County?
Yes, in the parts the network has reached. Valley Grande to the north is live and has its own page, and Orrville to the southwest, Sardis and Safford are served as well. Put any Dallas County address in the same way and you will get a straight answer for that street.
Is this real fiber?
Yes. Glass all the way to your house, with upload speeds that match your download speeds. Cable cannot say that.
How does this compare to what I pay now for cable?
Pull out your current bill and look at three things: what the price becomes after the promotional period, what the upload speed actually is, and how long it takes to reach a person. Then check your address here and compare those same three.
What is an open-access network?
One fiber network, built and maintained by one company, open to independent providers who compete for your business on it. mStreet Alabama builds and runs the glass. Is Yellowhammer the same as mStreet Alabama?
Yes. Yellowhammer Networks, LLC was renamed mStreet Alabama in June 2025, when its owner Meridiam rebranded the company. Same fiber, same crews, same network. So the build that has been going in across west Alabama since 2024 is the same network you would be connecting to today, whichever name you heard first.
Who is the internet provider on mStreet Alabama?

Do I need a contract?
No. Nothing to sign, nothing to cancel, no fee for leaving. Your first month is free, which makes trying it about as low-risk as it gets.
Will my price go up?
Your rate is locked for 2+ years. It is built on a wholesale fee we pay the network operator for every home on the network, and it moves only if that fee moves. In that case you get the amount and the date as soon as we do, and the pass-through is dollar for dollar. There is no other way for your bill to change.
What equipment do I need?
Just the fiber modem, which is part of the install. WiFi is a separate choice: Managed WiFi at $12.95 a month with the right router for your plan and your house, or your own router if you already have one you like.
What if I am in an apartment, or I need service for my business?
Send us the address and say what you need. Multi-unit buildings and business lines depend on what is already in the building, so we would rather look at your specific address than publish a rule that turns out to be wrong for you.
Who does the install?
Fiber crews from the network operator do the physical install. Service, billing and support are ours. As you order, you ask for a day and pick morning or afternoon, and we get in touch to confirm your order and the install day.
